You’ve been told to exercise for your bones. But what exercise?

It’s understandable to feel unsure about lifting weights or starting at a gym. We begin with your health, goals and current ability, then help you choose an appropriate next step.
ONERO®

Why ONERO® is different

ONERO® is a supervised, evidence-based high intensity resistance and impact training program for people with osteoporosis, osteopenia or low bone mass. Developed from the LIFTMOR research at Griffith University, it focuses on bone health, strength and physical function. Your assessment helps determine whether it is appropriate for you.

You don’t need to arrive strong or experienced. Your assessment helps us determine whether ONERO® is suitable and what support you need.

Learn about the ONERO® research →

Who may it suit?

People with osteoporosis, osteopenia or low bone mass who want professional guidance with exercise.

What would feeling stronger mean for you?

For many people, the goal is to feel stronger and more confident in everyday life — whether that means carrying shopping, travelling, gardening, getting up from a chair more easily or simply feeling less nervous about exercise.

Your plan starts with what matters to you. Tell us what you’d like to keep doing, get back to or feel more confident trying.

FOR GPS & HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

A clear referral pathway

Refer people with osteoporosis, osteopenia or low bone mass for assessment of their suitability for supervised bone-health exercise at our St Marys clinic.

Who will assess your patient?

Amisha Singh, Accredited Exercise Physiologist and ONERO®-trained practitioner. The entry point is an individual Initial Assessment + Personalised Plan — $130, before class participation.

What should you send?

Use “ONERO suitability assessment” as the referral reason. Include relevant diagnoses, previous fractures or injuries, goals and any available DXA reports or clinical correspondence, with the patient’s consent.

What happens after referral?

The assessment considers suitability, starting point and whether preparation or alternative care is appropriate. If suitable, the patient can discuss ongoing supervised participation in groups of up to six.

Communication and availability

With consent, we can communicate relevant assessment findings and progress to the referring health professional. Please include any specific clinical questions in your referral.

Your questions, answered

Do I need an assessment first?Yes. The $130 Initial Assessment + Personalised Plan helps us determine whether this pathway is suitable before you join classes.
Is ONERO® suitable for everyone with osteoporosis? No single program suits everyone. We’ll talk about your health, confidence, previous fractures or injuries, and what you feel comfortable doing before recommending an appropriate starting point.
What if I’ve never been to a gym?You don’t need gym experience to book an assessment. We’ll discuss your starting point, confidence and the support you may need.
How often should I attend, and when are classes?ONERO® is designed for twice-weekly supervised training on an ongoing basis. Your Exercise Physiologist will discuss suitability and the schedule with you following your assessment. From November 2026, the initial class timetable is Monday at 10:30 am and Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Contact our team to confirm availability and session duration.
What should I bring to my assessment?

If you have a recent bone-density (DXA/DEXA) scan report, a referral letter or relevant medical reports, bring them along. Tell us about previous fractures or injuries, any current concerns and what you’d like to feel more confident doing. If you’re unsure what you need, contact our team before your appointment.

Do I need a referral? You can contact Move 2 Thrive directly to book an Initial Assessment. A valid referral and eligibility are required to claim Medicare benefits. Our team can help clarify the requirements before booking.
Can Medicare or private health help with the cost?

Medicare rebates may apply to the initial assessment for eligible patients with a valid referral under an eligible care plan. Private health rebates may alternatively apply to the initial assessment if your extras cover includes exercise physiology.

Private health rebates may also apply to group sessions if your policy covers group exercise physiology. Confirm eligibility, waiting periods, benefit limits and any out-of-pocket costs before booking. Medicare and private health cannot both be claimed for the same service.

How many people are in each group? Our supervised groups have a maximum of 6 participants.
Is ONERO® a short course?

ONERO® is designed for ongoing, twice-weekly participation rather than a one-off short course. Our 10-session and 20-session packs are payment options, not a promise that treatment is complete when a pack ends. Your Exercise Physiologist can discuss your ongoing plan and appropriate next steps with you.

What should I know before buying a pack?Class participation follows assessment. Ask our team to explain expiry, cancellations and any other pack conditions before you purchase.
Can I ask questions before booking?Yes. Call 02 7229 6946 or contact the team. A brief enquiry or suitability call is not a clinical assessment or treatment session.
